    Wandering Albatross, off Wollongong 3/6/12

    Hey guys
Another bird from the same trip, what are your thoughts on exulans vs gibsoni for this one? Anyone else got more photos?

    Cheers
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

This wanderer has quite a slender bill and roundish head. Also the wings are very solid black in comparison to the white body. So if it was an exulans, it should be a female.

However, I am not sure if we can really rule out a male Gibson's (possibly at this stage you would see more white in the elbow area?). It looks good for a Tristan, though ;-)
[Yes, I do know that we can't get far with the latter idea without measurements and even if we had measurements there is a lot of overlap in both directions]

    Cheers,

    Nikolas
